Avet slope takes its name from a centenary fir.
The competition stadium was so called in honor of a centenary pine which is located on the left side of the slope. Seen from the town of Soldeu, from which position the tree stands out, it draws a natural obstacle on the slope.

The first skier was Miquel Farré, Soldeu’s postman.
In 1924, the then postman of Soldeu, Miquel Farré, was the first skier. Owing to the heavy snowfall that year, he changed the snowshoes that he wore to deliver the mail, for some long pieces of wood such as those used by the inhabitants of the French town of Porté, which he visited every week to collect the mail.
